Opportunity board //

How might we make corporate volunteering scalable and accessible to employees?

Opportunity board is a B2B custom based solution building on top of Communiteer's platform formatted to lower the barrier of entry for corporate employees to volunteer. The board leverages the Communiteer's primary platform in order to ensure data and information is consistent within the organisations digital offerings.

"Project kickoff"

"A series of actions or steps taken in order to create the foundation for achieving a particular end/goal"

The opportunity board in its original state was a knee jerk reaction of building out a quick solution for a client that wanted to provide a "job board" -esque solution to their internal staff. The first task was to identify what is currently made and what could be refined in a pseudo-cost benefit analysis type of way.

building off the back-end

Due to time and financial constraints, rather than building out an entirely new back end would take the project over deadlines; meaning we would have to think around how we might make a custom based solution… This resulted in building out associates and other tables in the back end to ensure customisability within the front facing user interface, prioritising data-driven design.

UI overhaul

The existing board would only allow for showcasing opportunity type and search... a plain and barebones solution. This project gave me an opportunity to create some components that would keep some consistency into the product, in the format of opportunity cards and a filter bar.

Filter filter filter!

The filter bar was the core piece in overhauling the user interface. Providing a basis for navigation, it included office location, distance, causes & skills. This allowed a more catered and customisable search for volunteers in order to find volunteering opportunities that better meet their own criteria.

Mimicking the end goal.

The prototype was rigged to emulate what the live product would typically enact, in order to meet strict deadlines due to third party client demands. The inability to create a live solution would therefore result in the wizard of oz prototype to take its place for the QAT (Quality assurance testing) that would effectively occur.
